Throughout the spring, summer and
early fall, the Heartland Stand on the Lake aka The
Stand In The Sand, offers “food for all.”
Hot coffee, tead, cold water, hot dogs, veggie dogs,
polish sausage, vegetarian chilli, pops, ice creams,
salads and more. And “food for all” is the
Stand's policy of serving traditional “beach”
or “concession stand” food (hot dogs, cokes,
chips, ice cream), as well as Italian sodas, fresh fruit
smoothies, fresh fruit, spicy beans and rice and salad
in a pita.
The Stand in the Sand serves Chicago’s Rogers Park,
Chicago’s most diverse neighborhood, both in class,
race and ethnicity. And that fact, we believe, is our
community’s strength.
The Stand in the Sand works closely with Loyola Park
youth programs to serve food during the Park’s
yearly Festival of the Wall and Summer Music Festival.
This year the Stand in the Sand plans to finish the
season in the early fall with a community clambake.
