AUGUST SON
THESE GUYS, THESE GUYS
ORGANIC BUBBLEGUM RETREAT
FOSSIL GENERATION

ALT / INDIE ROCK
SHOW AT 8 PM

These Guys These Guys is an instrumental post-rock group from Chicago, IL. Combining soft, ambient moods with elements of jazz, hardcore and progressive rock, TGTG escapes the confines of traditional categorization. Formed by pianist Branden Johnson, guitarist Jake Szafranski, and drummer Pete Kosmal in the summer of 2007, These Guys These Guys focused on bringing individual elements of each member's musical interests together in a new way. The addition of bassist Emily Ward rounded the band out, and they ventured out of their practice spaces to perform at such Chicago venues as Subterranean, The Red Line Tap, and Reggie's, where they released their first EP, entitled Baprians’ Sclrothings.

CAKE CHICAGO PRESENTS

ROXY SWAIN
REBECCA KLILING
VANESSA VINCENT

SHOW AT 9 PM
VARIETY OF MUSIC

REBECCA KLING  - Rebecca Kling is a Chicago-based artist interested in exploring the performance of identity. Her multi-media productions – composed of storytelling, video, movement, playful skips and jumps, enlightening self-discovery, accusatory glances, awkward pauses, and more – question gender, self-expression, and what it means to be at home in one’s own body. She's an instructor at The Piven Theatre Workshop, a syndicated blogger with BlogHer and has performed all over Chicago.

VANESSA VINCENT - born on the south side of chicago, vanessa began studying suzuki piano at the age of three, but learned how to use her voice while attending  gospel services in storefront churches and by singing along with madonna and cyndi lauper tapes blaring outta her pink boom box. with too many musical influences and style appreciations to name and currently armed with piano, ukulele, and some of the kindest musicians in chicago, vanessa rocks the folk circuit via the old town school of folk music in sunny chicago, il and hopes that through continued dedication and the release of her songs into the atmosphere, she might truly find her niche.

ROXY SWAIN - Roxy Swain debuts a new lineup and a fresh set of roots- and retro-rock material in 2012. The new approach retains the trademark female lead vocal over a more sophisticated array of guitars, keyboards, strings and incidental percussion. The group plans to release an EP, a 7" and an LP later this year to showcase their new sound.

“CAKE Chicago is one of the most inclusive, eclectic queer events in Chicago .” Readers Choice – Chicago Reader – Best Gay Variety Show
The Red Line Tap, says, it's usually one of the club's busiest nights."
